If the last night Windows XP Update cause your computer can’t connect to the internet this morning, download and install this software : Windows XP Update Remover ( Freeware ).

Run Remove Windows Updates, find KB951748 or choose the latest Date Installed ( 10-11/07/2008 ) then press Uninstall Update button. Restart your computer, then it’s back to normal and you can connect to the internet again.

It will happen again, if you enable Automatic Updates. How to turn it off? Go to Control Panel, find Automatic Updates, then choose other option besides “Automatic (recommended)“.

IMO, you better choose “Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them.” or “Notify me but don’t automatically download or install them.”. If you choose “Turn off automatic updates.” don’t forget to updates regulary from the Window Update Website manually.
